Social Network Best Practices

Essential Question: How do we safely interact with students online to model great teaching and learning.

  1. Modeling behavior -- Allow and be safe.
  2. Wordpress Blogging Platform: Guidelines -- Up through 10th grade, use initials -- ap-fa-12 (initials-school-grad-year). In 6th grade -- developing postive images online -- In 11th grade, students start using their names. Instructional technology coordinator leads documentation.
  3. Speaking with parents about how you change --

Schools need to model best practices using technology in the classroom, at home.

Is there a curricular component?
Character building. Through advisory -- not necessarily part of a class. What does it take to be a good person.
You can say the same thing about alcohol, relationships, moral relationships.


What platforms? By Division? What ages? What are your guidelines?
